The Fiske Icelandic Collection is one of the three largest collections on Icelandic literature and civilization. Daniel Willard Fiske, 1831-1904, was a professor at Cornell University, New York, and became their first librarian. An accomplished linguist and an inveterate book collector he began building his Icelandic library while still a young student. He bequeathed the collection to Cornell and it came to the University Library in 1905.
