1908 trials of the first motor driven sledges designed for transport in the Antarctic undertaken by Scott and Charcot. Following Scott's death Charcot had a cairn erected in homage to him in the Alpine Garden of the col du Lautaret in 1913, and was later re-erected on a new site in 1921. Text in English and French.
